Seitan Adana Kebab
Drawing inspiration from the Turkish classic, Adana kebabs, named after the city of Adana, our vegan twist is an attempt at emulating the perfectly seasoned and spicy dish. Beets add a touch of colour and tenderness to the seitan. Ideal for a wrap, these flavourful kebabs are best served with crisp vegetables, a refreshing mint yogurt sauce, and sumac-spiced onions.Servings

A great recipe for seitan beginners! I randomly had a leftover cooked beet and 1 cup of vital wheat gluten when I stumbled on this recipe. I made the koftas exactly as written and wrapped up in a whole wheat pita with tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickled onions. What a delight!
I am usually intimidated by seitan recipes but this literally only took 5 mins to assemble plus 20 mins steaming. I used the steaming time to prepare the other ingredients and dinner was done in under 30 mins. Will definitely make again!
I thought I'd make a Friday night treat with this kebab and OH MY GOSH! Definitely my new favourite from the app! A kebab with no frying? I was a bit worried that my seitan mix looked dry; it kinda looked like that kinetic sand stuff, but of course I needn't have given that a thought! It shaped just perfectly and just steaming it gave it a good texture. I loved loading these up with veggies and making a proper mess, just like kebabs of old 😂 Fantastic recipe!
I’m not the biggest fan of this, but then I don’t like the PUL homemade seitan recipe which is similar. It’s very chewy and just a really weird texture. But with all the components together, the wrap did taste quite nice. Recipe was easy to follow.
