Although there are numerous versions of similar dumplings found across Asia, we were inspired to make this recipe by the Japanese gyōza. These delicious little packets are stuffed with juicy mushrooms and cabbage. They're panfried for a crispy bottom and steamed so that the top is soft and chewy.

Hey there PUL Team! :) I have a question for you about this recipe: I've been dying to make these dumplings myself but all I can find in my Asian supermarket is frozen dumplings wrappers, so I was wondering if you used frozen or fresh ones for your recipe. And if you used frozen wrappers, would it be okay to then refreeze them again once you've made the dumplings? Thank you! :)

Hiii Martina! We've used frozen dumpling wrappers too, so that'll work! 😊 You can freeze the filled and shaped dumplings: just lay them in a single layer first so they don’t stick.
In case it helps, you might find the wrappers (sometimes called wonton wrappers) in the international aisle of a larger local grocery store, though we get ours from our local Asian supermarket. Hope you love the recipe when you give it a go 🤗

This filling was so good and easy to make. I didn’t have any green onion so I substituted it for yellow onion.

Yummmm. Didn't have carrots, so I did it with courgette, also worked. The flavours! 👌

It takes some times to make but they are my new favourite! So much better then the ones from the grocery store 😋 Switched the mushroom with tofu which worked out perfectly <3 Going to make a big batch and freeze them, hopefully they will cook up just as nicely!

Hey Marloes, so happy to hear! In case it helps and you haven't already seen, we find uncooked, stuffed dumplings can be frozen in a single layer, before transferring to an airtight container and kept for up to 3 months in the freezer. Panfry to cook as you would for the non-frozen dumplings 😊

What kind of dough are those "dumpling wrappers"? I live in Austria on the country side, I only knew Tortilla wraps to buy from the store... don't think they would fit well here, so what would you reccommend as an alternative please? :)

Very good but took me close to 2h to make 🙂

Again a clear success, best dumplings we have eaten in Spain, said my husband!!
These were absolutely delicious and I will definitely make them again! 🤤 has anyone ever tried adding some grated tofu to these or any other kind of dumpling? I might try that someday. ☺️
amazing
Great dumplings, next time I should use larger wrapper dough
As someone who eats a lot of dumplings I can confirm that these ones were delicious 😋😋 never thought of putting a bullion cube to the filling but was very pleasantly surprised 😊
I was a bit worried they would stick to my cast iron pan- but following your exact instructions they came out beautifully! Delicious! Thank you
I love this recipe!! First time ever I found cabbage tasty!! I don’t want to have dumplings today, so I replaced the wrapper with tortilla. The dish is super-juicy:)
Thumbs up!! Delicious!
I made a bunch of these the other day for me and my friends and they were so good, we loved them!!
We also froze some (uncooked). Curious how they will taste when we cook those.
These are delicious!!🫶🏼 and I was surprised on how easy and little amount of time they were ready 👍🏼
The flavor was amazing. My potstickers really stuck to the pan and fell apart so I steamed the rest and that worked great. I don’t have a nonstick pan so that was my issue.
These were amazing! I doubled the amount of garlic and ginger ;) Would love to learn how to make the wrappers myself
Oh my gosh these were so tasty! I was lazy so I didn't pleat them as nicely but they still looked really nice and tasted 10/10!
