Can I replace with tofu instead

Hii Jadamarie! We haven't tried, so we can't say with certainty. We imagine crumbled extra-firm tofu could work with a bit of experimenting 😊 You’d likely need extra seasoning and breadcrumbs to help it hold together, maybe even a flax egg. The texture will also likely be softer and less juicy than with Beyond Meat. Let us know if you give it a try ❣️

I made souvlaki and it turned out amazing with these meat balls

Part of my reason for eating vegan is that I don't like the taste of meat... Is there something else I could use instead of beyond meat?

Heyy Pat! Oou we imagine you could swap the Beyond Meat for something else if you're up for a bit of experimenting 🤗

A mix of cooked lentils and finely chopped mushrooms would likely work well for a hearty texture, maybe with some ground flax and more breadcrumbs as needed to help it hold together. I imagine it'd also be better to bake as I don't think they'd hold up being turned in a pan without crumbling. In case you're interested, we have a "chickpea meatball" recipe here in the app, which could be used as the base, with the spices from this recipe added to taste. Let us know if you end up trying any swaps 🫶

Meatballs are a traditional dish in my country, but I think these are the best I've ever made! Even my boyfriend was sceptical when he saw they weren't cooked in the sauce, but when he tasted them... He was in tears because they were so delicious! Simply spectacular.

Ohh this is such a massive compliment, Judit! We're smiling from ear to ear hearing this review ☺️💛

Can you make these meatballs in advance and store them in the freezer?

PUL small logo PUL Team - May 18, 2026, 8:46 p.m.

Heyyy Annelies! We haven't tried freezing the meatballs to be honest, but I imagine they could freeze nicely 🤗 I’d recommend cooking them first, then letting them cool completely before storing in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to 2 months. When ready to enjoy, reheat in a pan or oven until warmed through 🫶 let us know how it goes if you try it out!
