Very satisfying. I had red kidney beans already cooked (I heated them in a bit of broth) and I replaced the walnuts with half cashews, half sunflower seeds.

Hi PUL team,
I'd love to try this recipe, but is there anything that can replace the chipotle adobo sauce as I cannot find it in my region and I don't eat spicy (hot) food?

Heyy Jelena! Here in the Netherlands, we usually find it in a jar labelled "chipotle sauce" at our local grocery store, but it’s most similar to adobo sauce in the US. Ours is made from chipotle peppers blended with water, tomato, vinegar, and spices (no mayo in the ingredients).

If you can’t find it, you can swap in a hot sauce like Sriracha or Tabasco. And if you prefer less spice, you can start with less to lower heat or try another sauce like salsa 💛✨

Hello! You could try a bit of mild salsa instead of the chipotle and mild smoked paprika. I dislike too much smoke myself so I just had 1/2 a chipotle. Hope you'll find that helpful.

Hi Brigitte,
Salsa sounds like a good idea. I'll look for the mildest form I can find. Thank you for the suggestion! 😊
