This simple tomato sauce is elevated by the addition of roasted garlic. We untraditionally added a bit of miso paste to mimic the salty and umami flavours often found in cheese. It's perfect for an easy, elegant pasta dish or a base sauce for lasagna.

Hey PUL team, I’m hoping to give this recipe a try and avoid using bouillon cube. 😗 What would you recommend to substitute it with?
PUL Team - Feb. 3, 2026, 6:46 p.m.
Heyy Simran! You can skip the bouillon cube and season with salt to taste (start with a small amount and add more as needed). If you’d like, you can also add a pinch of black pepper or a bit more Italian seasoning 🤗 And feel free to splash in a little veggie broth or water when blending if needed. Hope this helps✨

Oh great! Many thanks for the suggestion ❣️😇
I’ve given this recipe a try without the cube and it turned out great! Loved how it tastes and it’s such a versatile sauce to add anything into it!
This is gonna be a pantry staple 😙

Throw in a few peppers & double the garlic. Takes the sauce to another level!

A fresh, aromatic sauce that I really needed. You can also eat it as a soup with some breadcrumbs

Yum! This sauce is amazing. I’ll definitely do two bulbs of garlic next time. I paired it with with meatballs and PUL parmesan.

So glad that the sauce was enjoyed, Aileen, thank you! 😊

I've made this twice this week and filled up my freezer (it freezes great in silicone ice cube trays - I have large cube ones that each hold a cup so perfect size - then transfer to silicone resealable bags when frozen). The second time I wanted to add a bit of extra protein so I blended in a carton of silken tofu. Made a really creamy sauce and still full of flavour. Waiting to see how well the tofu version froze now - I've frozen soups with silken tofu in before so I think it will be fine. Great recipe!

Ooo thanks for sharing your experience with the pasta sauce, Krystle! We'd love to hear how the tofu version ends up. Happy cooking 🤗

Thank you, looks delicious !! Wanted to ask before making it: how do you store it in the freezer ?

Hey Lola, simply let the pasta sauce cool completely, transfer it to a container with lid that seals very well, and pop it in the freezer - that's it! ❄️🙌
