Many breads call for honey as an ingredient. Would this bake well?

Hey Cara, oooh this a lovely question! To be honest, we haven’t tested it in baking yet - so far we’ve used it in salad dressings and to sweeten drinks. My instinct is that it has a higher water content than traditional honey, so it may not behave exactly the same in baked goods. It might work well in more forgiving recipes like hearty breads, but possibly not in more delicate bakes. If you do give it a try, we’d absolutely love to hear how it goes! 😊

This is lovely! Mine needed an extra 2 minutes to get the consistency right. Super simple and a lovely sweet taste.

I believe the apples I used were the sweeter type as this honey was overly sweet (and that’s coming from someone who loves sweets). I’d definitely use more tart apples or reduce the amount of sugar.
It tasted great on my unsweetened yogurt with some thawed out frozen strawberries and granola. Yum!

Hey Aileen, thanks for sharing your experience with it! Using 100% apple juice (rather than a sweetened variety) can also help in case yours might have had added sugar 😊

Yes, thank you! I actually juice my own fruit. I used Sugarbee apples. It was still delicious!

Neat that we can make honey with simple ingredients. I only had the apple juice, sugar and lemon juice and it was good. Like an apple honey. I did cook it longer though. Woke up to find it still funny in the fridge (I’d done the 10 mins plus another 5) so cooked another 3 mins. Then it was solid! Haha I’ll have to find that sweet spot (pun intended 🫢).

Omg, runny not funny 🤣

Hey Tania, aw thanks so much for sharing your experience with the recipe! Indeed if it stays too runny we'd recommend cooking it for an additional few minutes. Happy cooking 🤗

Oooo this sounds lovely How long will the vegan honey last once made please I love to make this for my friend to try- she has been vegan for over 35years

Hey Francea, you can store the vegan apple honey in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. In case you haven't seen it yet and it helps in the future, the storage instructions on the app are in the last slide of the "Make" step-by-step instructions or at the bottom of the "Directions" tab. We hope you and your friend love the recipe 🤗

The taste is great, but never double the cooking time only because you think its not ready. Then its very very sticky. Follow the recipe and it will be very tasty! :)

Hey Rike, glad the taste was enjoyed! The apple honey indeed thickens as it cools so taking it off the heat while it's still runny is the best bet 🙂
