To make this gluten free, would it be ok to substitute the whole wheat flour with buckwheat flour?

Heyy Tanja! Buckwheat flour behaves quite differently from wheat flour, so we wouldn’t recommend using it as a full substitute. Without gluten, the dough tends to be more fragile and won’t roll or puff the same way. If you’re curious to experiment, you can try a gluten-free flour blend that aims to behave like all-purpose flour. GF flour blends tend to work better than using a single flour (such as buckwheat flour) in isolation. If you try it out, let us know how it goes! 😊

Perfect recipe as always! 🧿 Thank you so much! ❤️ We enjoyed them as wraps with tofukebab and oven veg and salad. So delicious! İ think i should have made them thinner in order for them to bubble, is this right? Or not knead them too much? So the first one was a bit hard because i was waiting for it to bubble but it never did 😂 what went wrong?

So happy to hear you enjoyed them, Dilara, your wrap combo sounds delicious 😍 As for the bubbling, indeed, rolling the dough thinner can help. Over-kneading might also make them a bit tough. Try rolling them just a little thinner next time and cooking on a well-heated pan. That usually encourages those bubbles to puff right up!

I grew up eating chapathis daily at home, and often helped my parents and grandparents make them. But somehow, I was never able to nail this simple yet soul-satisfying recipe when cooking on my own.
That is—until I tried this recipe by PUL. It helped me finally cross the bridge! It was spot on.
I still hope to get to a point where I can make chapathis by feel, without having to weigh every ingredient. But for now, this recipe is my North Star. 😄
