Can I add fresh red onion and garlic instead of powders?
PUL Team - Aug. 5, 2025, 6:01 p.m.
Hey Sonali, mmm it's a lovely idea! Perhaps you can try finely mincing and sautéing about 2 to 3 cloves of garlic and 2 to 3 tablespoons of red onion until soft and fragrant. Then stir them into the cream mixture before pouring it over the potatoes 😊

Me, my two friends and this tart. 15 minutes. It took us that long to devour the whole thing. That good. Enough said.

Really tasty, we put some extra cheese and cress on top. We will definitely make it again :)

The flavour is nice but had to bake it for 15 more minutes

I love this recipe so much and make it almost every weekend! I love adding red onions and smoked tofu between the potato layers ☺️

Good to know. I thought about adding onions so will definitely try that next time.

In case someone else is thinking about it: I did it without the puff pastry dough and the breadcrumbs and it turned out fine!
I would also suggest to peel the potatoes for a nicer look, otherwise the thinly cut peel look like weird strings that dangle, but it does not affect the taste at all.

Made this one for the first time (!!) for a Christmas potluck dinner. Everybody loved it! We didn't have a mandoline so I used a peeler instead, took a bit more time I suppose but got the job done just fine! Really liked it, I would use less lemon juice next time but that's just personal preference. Great recipe!

So happy to hear that the recipe was enjoyed, Noah, and thanks for welcoming it into the festivities 🥰

You did it again with another delicious and simple tart recipe! I added some vegan bacon before putting the potatoes on (but forgot to reduce the salt amount in the sauce - will remember to do so next time). Regarding the cooking time, for me it was only 45min for the potatoes to be golden. This dish is so good either hot or cold!

Yayy we're so thrilled to hear this, Ly, thanks a bunch for sharing your experience with the potato tart 🥰

In the first step of the directions, the word 'water' is missing

This potato tart looks so good and I’d love to try it! Do you know if there’s anything I could use in place of the soy cooking cream? I don’t seem to be able to find it in the stores near me 😢
PUL Team - Oct. 30, 2024, 4:19 a.m.
Hey Emma, you can swap the soy cooking cream for any plant-based cooking cream. Alternatively, we imagine you could use any unsweetened plant-based milk (such as cashew milk) and maybe add a little bit of cornstarch, to help the mixture thicken 🤗

Thank you for the response! I’ll have to give the plant milk + cornstarch combo a try!
