This pudding is an amazing snack, that looks and tastes like a dessert! It is high in protein and without any refined sugar. The beans give the pudding creaminess, and the cacao powder and hazelnuts give it richness and a delicious taste!

Can’t believe how easy it is to make and how tasty it is! I immediately had to share the recipe with 2 of my besties 🥰

Very satisfying dessert. Rich in flavour and pleasingly filling. Worked a treat for both my three-year-old AND her refined sugar-loving grandfather. Hazelnut topping is a great idea and I added some frozen mixed berries which gave it a refreshing coolness. Had to swap in some dark chocolate (85% cocoa) as I ran out of cocoa powder, which seemed to work fine. Thank you Pick up Limes 😄

Really great recipe! I love this as a dessert at night. I’ve found that vanilla bean paste makes a WONDERFUL swap for extract if you have it available!

Gave this to my 9yr old daughter. Initially she had a hard time with the texture as kids are unused to alternatives but we looked through the recipe. She decided she wanted more. With a few fresh raspberries 👍🤎

I wonder if anyone used red kidney beans in this recipe? Unfortunately, I couldn’t get black beans this time 🫣

This pudding is excellent! Since I didn't have hazelnuts I replaced them with almond butter (like someone else here in the comments had done). It's so creamy and....satisfying! And you can eat as much as you want, since it has all those healthy beans. Right? 😉 Will be definitely making this again. Thank you!

Glad you're loving the pudding, Terhi! It's hard to resist a creamy, satisfying pudding ☺️

It’s like a guilt-free chocolate dessert and I love that it sneaks in some legumes, too:) made this for a ‘galentine’s dinner’ and everyone loved it

Which haricots are you using ? I have Azuki, violet, would they work if I soak overnight and cook 40mins ? Grazie :)
PUL Team - Jan. 13, 2024, 7:48 a.m.
Hey Luiza, we used general black beans. We imagine you could use Azuki beans if you'd like, just be sure they're very well cooked before using them in this recipe. We're not confident how violet beans will turn out, but if you give it a try let us know how it goes!
Luiza Alice - Jan. 14, 2024, 2:34 p.m.
No, ‘Azuki’ they’re called and their colour is violet, I don’t really eat beans on the daily basic, so I’m not very familiar; but I know they are very healthy, so would like to try to incorporate them a bit. I don’t think I saw ‘black beans’ - ‘haricot noir’ ?, they always have some specific name, so I wanted to clarify:)
PUL Team - Jan. 14, 2024, 9:51 p.m.
Ah gotcha! Welcome to the world of beans, they're a lovely ingredient to experiment with, Luiza 🙌
For us, black beans are often in the canned or bulk dry section of the grocery store. Adzuki beans are often labelled as red beans whereas violet beans are a separate type with a vibrant purple colour. We hope you love the pudding if you're able to give it a try 😃

Nice, hazelnut flavour really shines through. Added pomegranate seeds as topping, which added a nice acidity to the snack.

I have refrained from eating chocolate puddings since I was a child, but I felt that I must try. I absolutely loved it: perfect balance between sweetness and bitterness from the dates and cacao, respectively, and I used 30 g almond butter in lieu of hazelnuts for the extra creaminess. Interesting that there was no aftertaste of the black beans, contributing only to a firm yet silky texture. Super tasty with canned clementines on top for a Yuletide combination

We're so thrilled that the black bean pudding was enjoyed, Louise! Almond butter is a delicious idea for more creaminess 😍

Really enjoyed this dessert, I couldn’t believe it had beans in it! Blending until smooth was key, and I drizzled it with a bit of maple syrup before indulging. As mentioned here by others, it satisfies a chocolate and sweet craving well. It is quite heavy so you don’t need a lot to feel full/satisfied.

Hit the chocolate cravings spot! I used half the amount of dates to reduce the sugar content and it was delicious. I had sour cherries on top
